Chutzpah has been redefined.

As Ronald Reagan used to say, facts are stubborn things. The fact is that imminent man-made climate disaster has been shown to be a massive fraud driven by manipulated data and deliberate suppression of facts to the contrary.

The latest Climate-gate shoe to drop is the Moscow-based Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) accusation that the Hadley Center of Britain’s Meteorological Office deliberately relied on a carefully selected 25% of Russia’s weather stations that fit its theory of global warming.

By ignoring those that don’t, the Russians say, the CRU overestimated warming in the country by more than half a degree Celsius.

Russia accounts for 12.5% of the earth’s land mass and has weather stations throughout, so ignoring vast swaths of it can greatly skew any analysis. The IEA says CRU ignored data covering 40% of Russia, preferring data from urban centers and data that showed a warming trend. On the final page of the IEA report is a chart that shows the CRU’s selective use of Russian data produced 0.64C more warming than using all the data would have done.

Climategate: Weekend Update

This morning, James Delingpole at Telegraph.co.uk provides us with an entertaining list of the top excuses coming from the warmist camp.  Fun to watch them squirm and openly display their intellectual dishonesty.

But this one has to be near the top of the list – “My colleagues and I accept that some of the published emails do not read well.” said Phil Jones, Director of the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit.

Phil is of course one of the instrumental moving forces behind the original IPCC report and the “hockey stick” chart that shows how horrible anthropogenic global warming is (the basis for the Al Gore propaganda film).   But, as this scandal shows, mother nature has not been cooperating and decided start cooling things off – and that’s why these “peer reviewed scientists” needed to “hide the decline”.

Over at the Washington Times, Wesley Pruden notes the following in Trouble Afoot for High Priests:

“The revelations of academic travesty have panicked the priests of the Church of Global Warming and friends and followers. The Washington Post, which built its reputation on leaked (or “stolen”) documents, prissily refers to the e-mail messages as “stolen e-mails” that prove nothing more than that suppressing debate must be done more discreetly. What panics the congregation is that this breaks just before the big Copenhagen warmfest.”

Interestingly, New Zealand climate researchers appear to have been caught cooking the temperature books as well.

Over in OZ, 5 MPs resigned in protest against the Australian version of Cap and Tax as reported by ABC.

First reaction from Carol Browner, Obama’s climate czar over at the EPA:

“What am I going to do, side with the couple of naysayers out there or the 2,500 scientists. I’m sticking with the 2,500 scientists. These people have been studying this issue for a very very long time and agree that the problem is real.“

Hmm – what about the 31,000 scientists who, beginning about 10 years ago, signed this petition formally stating their doubts about anthropogenic global warming, most recently renamed “Climate Change” since temperatures have not been cooperating?  The petition says:

We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December 1997, and any other similar proposals.  The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the forseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.  Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environment of the Earth.”

Of course the High Priest of the Warmists, the worlds first wannabe “carbon billionaire” claims that Co2 pollution is cause for substantial change in how accounting should be done stated in Time is up for Short Term Thinking in Capitalism published at FT.com last night:

“The longer we defer the proper accounting for externalities such as global warming pollution, the greater the strain we place on our already fragile economies. For example, by ignoring the real risk-profile of high-carbon businesses, we are both allocating capital poorly and creating trillions of dollars of “subprime carbon assets”. If the most powerful force in the world is indeed “an idea whose time has come”, the most destructive force in capital markets may well be “an assumption whose time has suddenly elapsed”. Just as widespread assumptions about the value of bundled and securitised subprime mortgages collapsed when tested by reality (thereby detonating the first stage of the financial crisis), the current widespread assumption in markets that it is perfectly fine to dump 90m tons of global warming pollution into the thin shell of atmosphere surrounding our planet every 24 hours – as if it is an open sewer – is also now colliding with reality. Though we cannot predict when this assumption will collapse, it is obvious that it will – and most likely within the time-span relevant to genuine long-term investors.”

Of course we will need a new global regulator to govern how this new fangled accounting should be done, right?

These politicians and their media lapdogs think that you are stupid and they are off to Copenhagen.  Fortunately, Obama has not gotten any results on any of his other trips abroad.
